I have watched the Town Council degenerate to a point where it has become ineffective. Volunteers that give to our community, whether they are voters, elected politicians, or community activists, feel disconnected. They feel bullied from the process. If a voter comes forward and says, "Hey this is a bad idea and here's why", the Council needs to listen instead of trying to pad a persons' elective résumé for a State Senate race, forsaking the people of Southington, only to be reminded in a costly referendum that they should have listened. I will never do that and never have. I want the secret meetings to end along with the preconceived agendas. Southington does not deserve a shadow government and its leaders should not require Q-cards. Government should not and cannot work like this. We need to move forward and we need a change. A good idea is a good idea, regardless of the party in which it originates. I understand the value of your vote and the responsibility that goes with it. I kindly ask for your vote this November.
